Fire spreads from Carson River Resort to wild land near Markleeville
UPDATE SUNDAY: The Carson Fire remained at 50 acres Sunday morning, was 40 percent contained with full containment expected by 4 p.m. Sunday, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch.

UPDATE 8PM: The Carson Fire burning southeast of Markleeville remains at 50 acres as of 8 p.m. Saturday and is burning uphill away from structures, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. There are 160 firefighting personnel on this fire.
The Carson River Resort fire is located on Highway 89. Structure protection is on scene though Alpine County. The fire is under unified command between the U.S. Forest Service and Alpine County. Assisting agencies include the Bureau of Indian affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Alpine County Sheriffs Department, Caltrans, various Nevada and Californica Counties and Local Governmental Agencies, California Fire Service, and Nevada Division of Forestry.
Assigned to the fire are 86 engines, 3 hand crews, 2 helicopters, 2 water tenders.

UPDATE 7:15PM: Forward progress of the Carson Fire is being made Saturday evening after having burned 50 acres thus far at the Carson River Resort on State Route 89 south of Markleeville, according to South Tahoe Now.
Air and ground resources are engaged. One building and a motorhome at the resort burned before moving into the surrounding vegetation. Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch reports the following units assigned: 7 brush engines, 2 handcrews, 1 helicopter, 4 air tankers plus additional Alpine County resources.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they have opened one lane of traffic on State Route 89, which is the area of the fire.

Crews are on the scene Saturday of a fire that has spread from a resort near Markleeville, Calif. to the nearby wild, according to fire officials.
