Carson City School District to discuss $12 million in new bonds to improve school facilities

The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place Tuesday, Aug. 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.

Items for discussion include new bonds, test results, upcoming events and more.

There will be a discussion and possible action on a resolution designated as the “2021 School Bond Resolution” which declares the necessity of taking on a bonded indebtedness on behalf of the district for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, and equipping school facilities in the district. The aggregate principal amount will not exceed $12 million.

A presentation will be held regarding the differences between school social workers and school guidance counselors, for discussion only.

A presentation will be held on the Civics Test Results for the Carson City School District Class of 2021.

A discussion and possible action will be held regarding the adoption of CCSD Test Procedures and Security Plan for the 2021-2022 School Year.

An annual review will be held regarding CCSD Policy and Regulation 543, Safe and Respectful Learning Environment Free from Bullying or Cyber-Bullying, for which no changes are proposed.

A discussion on proposed changes to CCSD Policy 303, Superintendent of Schools will be held on a first reading, with no action taking place.

A man residing in Carson City was arrested in connection with murders in Gardnerville and Washoe County, according to sheriffs from Reno, Douglas County and Carson City.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, Wilbur Ernesti Martinez Guzman, 19, who resides in Carson City, was arrested in connection with the murders in Douglas County and Washoe County.

According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, law enforcement agencies are confident there is enough evidence to link Guzman to all four homicides.
