Carson City Sheriff's deputy now home after Friday stabbing, shooting
A Carson City Sheriff's deputy who was stabbed with a knife by a suspect Friday evening outside of the Carson Nugget has been released from the hospital and is now home recovering, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Saturday morning.
The stabbing suspect, who was subsequently shot by the deputy, remains in the hospital, Furlong said. There is no official word on the suspect's condition at this time.
Just a few minutes before 6:15 p.m. Friday, a suspect slashed at a Sheriff's deputy with a knife upon being confronted by law enforcement and casino security on the south side of the casino building near the loading dock.
The deputy, who was stabbed by the suspect, responded by shooting the suspect, who was wounded by the gunfire.
The suspect was Care Flighted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, while the deputy was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City for treatment of the stab wound.
