Carson City sheriff’s deputies make arrests for fugitive warrant and drugs
A 61-year-old man was arrested on Thursday at 3:40 a.m. for a felony charge of possession of 15.9 grams of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
The deputy who made the arrest was following a black SUV when it stopped at a green light. The driver, Kevin Bown, also failed to use his turning signal when going right and was swerving out of his lane. When the officer did a records check on the vehicle the registration came up as expired.
When the officer pulled Bown over, he was rambling and showed signs of a stimulant user. Bown told the officer he couldn’t use drugs due to a heart issue and when the officer asked to search his car, he declined.
The officer called for another unit and upon that officer's arrival, he asked Bown to exit the vehicle before telling him to go with the other officer and keep searching for an non-expired proof of insurance.
As the officer got the K-9 out, Bown admitted to having a little bit of meth in the car. The K-9 sniff confirmed a positive alert and Bown told the officer there was meth in the black bag sitting in his passenger seat. When the officer did a probable search of the vehicle, he found meth, needles, two pipes, two broken pipes and a blue rubber strap to tie off your circulation.
Bowen was arrested and taken to Carson City Jail. Bail: $11,137.
