NV Energy reports a widespread power outage Sunday morning that runs from Carson City south into Douglas County, along mostly the Carson Street to Highway 395 corridor affecting neighborhoods throughout town. In Carson City there are 185 outages reported affecting 4,500 customers. In Douglas County, there are 98 outages reported with 5,450 customers without power.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office is reporting major issues with traffic flow along South Carson Street, and are working the traffic lights, allowing for traffic to flow through.

The power went out just after 9 a.m. and is expected to be restored around noon, according to NV Energy. The cause of the outage is due to a motor vehicle accident in which a power pole was hit in the area of Curry Street near Carson Street, knocking out four substations in the area, including those along South Carson Street.
