Carson City arrests: Man sleeping in car parked in travel lane held for stolen property, drug offenses

A 31-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of possession of stolen property and multiple drug related offenses, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.
Edward Allen Davenport was taken into custody at 7:16 a.m. He was also booked for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, a parole and probation violation, both felonies, three counts misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area of Eagle Station and North Carson Street in reference to a subject parked in the roadway asleep at the wheel. Deputies arrived and observed the man in the vehicle sleeping with his shoes off.
They observed a pocket knife in the center console and asked the man to step outside the vehicle. He agreed and agreed to allow for a deputy to look through the vehicle.
The suspect informed the officer that the vehicle was not his. Deputies ran a VIN check on the vehicle as the VIN did not match what was on the license plate, according to the arrest report. Dispatch advised the VIN had expired.
During a vehicle inventory search deputies located suspected methamphetamine, a small portable scale, paraphernalia common with heroin use and a Nevada driver's license belonging to a woman, who had reported her purse and wallet stolen out of her vehicle in the Reno area.
Dispatch also advised the man was on parole and probation with conditions of no drugs, alcohol or paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken to jail. Bail: $10,000 bail and a no bail-hold for the parole and probation violation.
In other arrests:
— A 23-year-old Carson City man, David Zachary Sesler, was booked for suspicion of parole and probation violation. He was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
— A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 9:28 p.m. in the 3100 block of Highway 50 East for misdemeanor suspicion of a second DUI, and misdemeanor open container and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the arrest report, deputies were advised of a vehicle swerving on the roadway in the area of Highway 50 East.
Deputies were informed the vehicle was in a fast food drive through. An officer pulled behind the vehicle and made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who smelled strongly of alcohol. She agreed to participate in field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment.
She provided a preliminary breath test, which yielded .416. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the other charges. She was taken to the hospital due to the high alcohol level, and consented to a blood draw. Bail: $2,779.
— A 51-year-old Carson City man, Thomas Dias, was arrested Wednesday in the 3300 block of Carmine Street for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and three misdemeanor offenses: possession of drug paraphernalia, being an ex-felon failing to register and driving on a suspended license. Bail: $2,500.
— A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday in the 1800 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued July 21, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 45-year-old woman was arrested for a failure to appear warrant issued out of Douglas County. Bail: $1,373.
— A 28-year-old woman, Michelle Nicole Olson, listed as a transient, was arrested Wednesday in the area of Russell and East Long Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
