Woodfords to Markleeville State Route remains closed Friday due to flash flooding
Following the thunderstorms that occurred during the last few days, SR 88 and 89 were forced to close due to flash flooding and mud slides.
According to CDOT, SR 89 was closed Thursday morning between Turtle Rock and Markleeville due to mudslides and debris washing out portions of the highway.
There is a potential for more thunderstorms Friday afternoon throughout the Douglas County-Carson City-Washoe County region.
As of 11 a.m. Friday morning, SR 88 remains closed from the junction of SR 4 to four miles south of the East junction of SR 88 at Woodfords.
Motorists must use an alternate route until the road is able to reopen.
