Carson City jail inmate booked for battery by a prisoner following incident inside cell
A 27-year-old female inmate at Carson City Jail was booked early Tuesday morning for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner, a sheriff's deputy report states.
Samantha Ann Whiteheart was booked on the charge following an incident in which she allegedly pulled an inmate from her bunk and punched her in the face. The altercation happened at approximately 1:20 a.m. inside a Female Discipline cell. The two woman were yelling at each other when jail deputies arrived.
The victim informed the jail deputy she needed medical attention. She suffered injuries to her hands, face, arms and legs. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The suspect said she was trying to sleep but that the victim began yelling at her. The suspect admitted to pulling the victim from the bunk but denied she hit the victim, the arrest report states. She then invoked her right to an attorney.
The report has been forwarded to the District Attorney. Whitehead was booked for suspicion of battery by a prisoner. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A 39-year-old Carson City man, Justin Adam Mills, was arrested Tuesday for a felony warrant issued July 27, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $40,000.
— A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the area of Northgate and Hot Springs Road for unlawful occupancy of a residence and possession of burglary tools, both gross misdemeanor offenses.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 2600 block of North Carson Street for a report of a male subject who was inside a vacant business. The victim/property owner stated the male apologized for being inside. The victim called dispatch and advised the subject left on a pink bicycle and was wearing camouflage style clothing.
A deputy located a person who fit the description a quarter mile from the business. The suspect was carrying a pry bar in his right hand when he was contacted, the arrest report states.
The victim's business had multiple pry marks on the exterior doors. The suspect was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He said he was homeless and was using the location to sleep. He denied using a pry bar to gain access to the building. The building owner completed and signed a citizen's arrest form. Bail: $3,637.
