Theater production of 'Heathers the Musical' this weekend at Carson City Community Center

“Greeting and salutation...” Wild Horse Productions is thrilled to present “Heathers the Musical: High School Edition,” the inaugural show of their new adult/young adult division, Wild Horse Stage Company.

Based on the 80s cult classic movie "Heathers" starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, this rock musical tells the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with new kid J.D., a mysterious teen rebel who plans to put the Heathers in their place — six feet under. Directed by Sierra Scott and Tara Burke, “Heathers the Musical: High School Edition” is a hilarious, heartfelt, and homicidal new show based on one of the best teen comedies of all time.

"This production is especially meaningful because the road to opening night was much longer than usual," Director Sierra Scott commented. "We were only one week away from opening in March of 2020 when the COVID-19 shutdowns first began. We were unsure if or when we would be able to get back together to do the show. Many cast members graduated and went off to college during that time, so it was lucky to be able to reunite most of the original cast after nearly a year and a half."

Leading the cast are Ben Larkin as J.D., Kieran Dazzo as Veronica, Braden Holub as Martha, Ethan Spier as Kurt, Jake Nichols as Ram, and Jenna Sterrett, Christina Van Geel, and Angela Cirone as the notorious Heathers. They are supported by a talented ensemble portraying various other students and faculty at Westerberg High: Deepti Arun, Laura Bennett, Marsh Brodeur, Phoenix Burke, Jonah Dodd, Becca Hughey, Reagan Hukari, Julia Nolan, and Tara Rispin. Come support this amazing cast as they finally get to open “Heathers the Musical: High School Edition.”

While it is a high-energy comedy, this show contains content related to bullying, suicide, and violence in schools. “Heathers the Musical: High School Edition” is rated a strong PG-13 and is intended for mature audiences. This event will also be following all COVID-19 related safety guidelines including mask requirements for all audience members.

“Heathers the Musical: High School Edition” will be playing one weekend only, August 5-8 at the Carson City Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows at 7:30 pm and Sunday show at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $15 general admission* and can be purchased online at https://whproductions.ludus.com/

— Special Promotion: “Buy One Get One Free” tickets for the performance on Friday, August 6 only, use the promo code FRIDAYBOGO (promo available for online pre-sale only).
