NHP says impairment suspected in fatal crash Wednesday on I-80 and Boomtown
On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at approximately 3:17 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to an injury crash at I-80 and Boomtown.
A preliminary investigation shows that a purple 2001 Honda Civic was traveling wrong-way eastbound on westbound I-80 in the number one travel lane approaching a white 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound in the same travel lane.
The right front of the Chevrolet struck the right front of the Honda. A green 2020 Mack commercial vehicle towing doubles struck the resulting debris.
The unrestrained driver of the Honda, Elizabeth Andrews, a 39-year-old Sparks resident, was declared deceased at the scene. Impairment is suspected in this crash.
This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - NHP Case #210702191.
