Armed robbery suspect sought in Fernley, LCSO asks residents in search area to shelter in place
UPDATE: A suspected armed robber is in custody after an hours-long standoff with police in Fernley Monday, according to KRNV News 4.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office on Monday morning urged people living in the area of Villa Mobile Home Park in Fernley to shelter in place as deputies search for an armed robbery suspect.
According to a code red social media statement, LCSO is asking nearby residents to shelter in place inside their homes with doors and windows locked.
The suspect is described as a dark skinned male wearing dark blue jeans, a black or blue long sleeved shirt, and a green army style hat. LCSO advises the suspect is armed and dangerous those who may see him should not approach him and to call 911 if you notice anything suspicious.

LCSO did a followup at 10:17 a.m.
"Per NHP yesterday in Las Vegas as a vehicle was carjacked by an African American male and was used this morning at approximately 5:45 a.m. as a getaway vehicle in an armed robbery of the Sinclair gas station in Hawthorne, NV. Victims described the suspect as an African American male wearing dark jeans and a white shirt, and armed with a handgun. Victims also described the vehicle as a silver SUV. Another attempt to locate was issued.
NHP located and attempted to stop the vehicle in Fallon. NHP requested assistance from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office as the pursuit headed toward Fernley. Deputies from Lyon County responded. The suspect vehicle eventually crashed at the roundabout in Fernley. The suspect fled on foot, armed with a handgun, into the Villa mobile home park. Video surveillance from a residence showed the suspect fleeing into the park and appeared to be armed. The mobile home park is surrounded and a shelter in place order has been issued.
Law enforcement personnel from Lyon County, Washoe County, Carson City and NHP are actively attempting to apprehend the suspect. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
