Carson City community invited to Sheriff’s Night Out tonight at Mills Park

Event Date:
August 3, 2021 - 5:00pm

Tonight, Tuesday August 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., all are invited to celebrate Sheriff’s Night Out at Mills Park, located at 1111 East William Street in Carson City. Explore multiple law enforcement agencies and community resource programs while enjoying free family activities centered on crime prevention and awareness.

Sheriff’s Night Out coincides with many nationally celebrated crime prevention platforms, yet here in this community, we celebrate all public safety entities, our military, lateral partners, and other supporting agencies. Partnering with multiple organizations from around the area, this year’s event will have more than 40 agencies and organizations participating; bringing with them: aircrafts, law enforcement vehicles, mounted horses, fire engines, informational fliers, prizes, music, games, and much more.

There will be many hands-on activities and games, to go along with the many prizes being handed out.

The Elks Club will be barbecuing hot dogs to go along with free chips, water, and sodas.

Also, Sheriff Furlong and Campagni Auto Group will be making a special presentation to introduce the newest member of the Sheriff’s Office, Camper the K-9.

Camper is the sixth K-9 Officer joining the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and is specifically trained to support the schools in the community.

The Sheriff’s Night Out is a community outreach program designed to heighten awareness of crime and substance abuse, generate support for participation in local anti-crime programs, bring a greater awareness to local community organizations and the resources they offer and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office extends a tremendous gratitude for the following community partners for their sponsorship of this event; Grocery Outlet, Flocchini Family Provisions, Campagni Auto Group, Michael Hohl Motor Company, Carson City Hyundai, Tractor Supply Company, Home Depot, Nissan of Carson City and Walmart.

Each one of these businesses made enormous contributions to ensure this event is possible.

While Mills Park provides a spacious outdoor environment for the event, visitors and employees should adhere to personal protective measures that recognize the size of the crowd and close contact conversations.

Protective measures, such as masks, may be recommended for everyone, and certainly for those who have not been vaccinated or are otherwise vulnerable.
