Carson City arrests: Man tells deputy to look at social media account for identification
A 31-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of using false information to avoid prosecution, a felony, and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
James Robert Connelly, listed as being from Forbestown, Calif., was also arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (suspected heroin and methamphetamine) and three misdemeanor offenses: a failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court, obstruction, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, the man told an officer his name was "Bobby" and provided a last name and birthdate but couldn't provide a social security number. When dispatch informed the deputy they couldn't find a name matching with a birthdate, the suspect encouraged the deputy to look him up on his social media account because he didn't have identification on him.
During the questioning, the suspect provided information that didn't match the social media account. He then later changed his name, offering another social media pseudonym, "Jimmy." He was arrested for obstruction.
During a search, deputies located .07 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his pants pocket, 1.3 grams of suspected black tar heroin and paraphernalia, according to the report.
Under Miranda warning he waived his right and agreed to speak, stating his full name and that he has an active warrant. He further stated that the name he provided, "Bobby" is a friend from California. Total bail amount listed: $15,412, including $10,000 for allegedly providing the officer with false identification to avoid arrest.
