Carson City sheriff's deputies make DUI, drug and warrant arrests
Two transients, a male and female, were arrested in the 3000 block of Oak Ridge Drive early Saturday morning, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
The woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and the man was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor.
According to the booking report, deputies were patrolling the area when they observed a vehicle with Oregon plates at a park with black plastic trash bags covering the driver and passenger side window.
Deputies made contact with a man in the driver seat and a woman in the passenger seat. They were both sleeping with the seats reclined.
Deputies took their names and learned that the woman was free of any wants or warrants and the man had a non-extraditable warrant out of Oregon.
A K-9 deputy was deployed, who conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle. Deputies asked the woman if they could search her vehicle. She gave voluntary consent to search the vehicle, and inside, deputies located a burnt methamphetamine pipe with a milky white powdery residue still inside of it. In the driver side door panel where the man was seated, they located a black expandable baton.
They were arrested and transported to the jail without incident. Bail for the woman: $3,637; Bail for the man: $2,637
