Large animal, livestock fire evacuation site moved to Carson City fairgrounds at Fuji Park
MINDEN — The evacuation location for large animal has changed from the Douglas County Fairgrounds to the Carson City Fairgrounds at Fuji Park in south Carson City.
The Carson City Fairgrounds at Fuji Park is now designated as the evacuation site for livestock and large animals for those affected by the Tamarack Fire. The park cannot shelter small domestic pets such as dogs and cats. It is located at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, Carson City.
Please provide food for your livestock, as it will not be provided by the facility. It is also encouraged to bring water buckets if possible.
The Douglas County Fairgrounds are currently being used for pre-planned events.
The Douglas County Community and Senior Center, located at 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville, is pet-friendly and remains an evacuation center for those with small domestic animals.
Anyone wishing to evacuate who live south of Leviathan Mine Road will be asked to go to the TRE Community Center, 3939 Carter Dr. Wellington, Nev.
Anyone wishing to evacuate who live north of Leviathan Mine Road will be asked to go to the Douglas County Community and Senior Center.
