Shoe Tree Brewing in Carson City, Minden bring home 6 U.S. Open Beer Championship medals
Shoe Tree Brewing Co. in Carson City and Minden received a combined 6 medals at the U.S Open Beer Championship held in Oxford, Ohio. Breweries from Russia to Rhode Island sent more than 9,000 beers representing over 150 different styles for the 2022 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
Shoe Tree Brewing in Minden, Nev., placed second overall in the Grand National Champion rankings, where points are accumulated for medal-winning beers and are added up to create the top 10 brewery rankings in each year’s competition. STBC Minden won three gold medals and a silver. Their gold medal winners were Coco Burrito Porter, Coco Taquito Porter, and Lahontan Brown Ale. They also won silver for Gingie - Gingerbread Brown Ale. Shoe Tree Brewing in Carson City, Nev., won two medals a gold for Stoutacus and a bronze for Happy Farmer.

Judging in the U.S. Open Beer Championships is blind; the judges know only the categories, but they do not know what beers they are tasting. The final round of judging was held at the Grandfather’s Barn in Oxford, Ohio.
