On Thursday, December 21, 2023, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners recognized Renea Louie for her dedication, ongoing effort, and service to the community, youth, and Douglas County.

On Thursday afternoon, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the parking lot of Carson Mall for a report of a person brandishing a weapon in the parking lot.

According to the victim, she and her family were at the mall for family shopping. When they finished, they were loading their car in the parking lot when a white GMC truck pulled up behind them. The grandmother was behind their vehicle while her son-in-law and daughter were placing their infant in his car seat in the backseat.

The Rotary Club of Carson City helped brighten the holidays for 20 homebound senior citizens this week. The Carson City Senior Center identified the seniors in need and provided the Rotarians with their wish lists.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Thursday evening to a vehicle crash involving two pedestrians near a Hot Springs Road apartment.

On Tuesday, Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada CEO Brett Zunino came before the Planning Commission regarding a Special Use Permit allowing for a daycare facility in west Carson City at 2805 Mountain St.

The property, which was previously a law firm, is zoned as Residential Office. The Boys and Girls Club is asking for a recommendation to amend Carson City zoning code to allow for a child care facility within Residential Office zoning.
