Carson City Sheriff's Office requests public's help identifying suspect in fraudulent credit card case

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for information in a fraudulent use of a credit card that occurred in Walmart (3200 Market St.) in Carson City.

On July 6, 2021 Detectives received a report of fraudulent charges on a victim’s stolen credit card.

Bank statements showed several fraudulent purchases on the credit card that occurred at the Walmart store in Carson City.

Investigators obtained video surveillance from Walmart.

A female wearing black jogging pants, blue shirt with a blue sweatshirt wrapped around her shoulders, green camo baseball hat and black sunglasses purchased several items with the stolen credit card.

A 55-year-old Minden man was arrested in the area of N. Carson Street and E. Washington Street around 2 a.m. Friday morning for DUI first after failing to use a turn signal.

Deputies were patrolling in the area when they witnessed a pickup making a lefthand turn onto Carson Street from 8th Street without using a turn signal.

Country Financial is pleased to announce the Carson City Sheriff’s Office as a recipient of a Country Financial Operation Helping Heroes award. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has investigated a former staff member at China Spring Youth Camp who was arrested on December 14, 2023 and booked on two separate crimes of sexual conduct with children under the care, custody, control of supervision of the Camp in violation of NRS 201.555.

The crimes are category C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison for each offense and fines up to $10,000.

In addition to the recent resignations of both the long-standing Douglas County School District Superintendent Keith Lewis, as well as the Director of Human Resources Joe Girdner, the next district leader to tender his resignation is board member Tony Magnotta.

Magnotta announced his intention to resign last week, done in protest against the board majority’s actions since January.

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of N. Carson Street and College Parkway Thursday morning after deputies witnessed what appeared to be two cars racing each other.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals suspected of using stolen credit cards.

Wednesday was the 19th annual Holiday with a Hero shopping event held at Walmart and organized by the nonprofit that provides a Christmas shopping spree for some of Carson City's underprivileged children.

A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs with suspected intent to sell and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Muscle Powered is beginning to recruit new board members to serve on the board for a volunteer 2-year term of service. We meet 6 times a year for 2 hours with occasional meetings on weekends for planning meetings. To join the board, you must be a current Muscle Powered member.

Carson High School’s Speech and Debate team had a commanding performance at the December tournament held at Hug High in Reno over the weekend, with 23 Carson City students participating and 19 advancing to final rounds.

UPDATE 8PM: Roadways have begun to open up following the crash investigation involving a pedestrian and motorist that happened early Tuesday evening. According to Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Matt Smith, the adult female victim was flown by CareFlight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where she is being treated for injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The crash happened in a crosswalk where the victim was crossing west to east and was struck by a vehicle. The driver is an adult and impairment is not suspected, said Sgt. Smith.
