Carson City Fire Department brush engine assists with fire on Highway 395 near Cold Springs
A firefighting brush engine from Carson City Fire Department was called Friday afternoon for mutual aid to a wildfire burning along Highway 395 south of Cold Springs near the Nevada/California border.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says it is closing Highway 395 Intermittently because of the fire, estimated by Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center as around 500 acres. The fire started at around 1 p.m.
Motorists should avoid the area.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is assisting with voluntary vacuations in the area of Crystal Canyon Boulevard and White Lake Parkway due to the Cold Springs Fire. Air support and firefighting crews from Truckee Meadows Fire, Reno Fire and the Bureau of Land Management are fighting the fire.
