Carson City Fire Department: Two taken by Care Flight after vehicle rolls off trail in Ash Canyon
Four were rescued with two taken by Care Flight on Tuesday night following a vehicle rollover in Ash Canyon, two miles from the trailhead, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief.
Of the two flown by Care Flight, one suffered a broken arm and the other an ear injury. The two other adult males had minor injuries, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini.
At 8:42 p.m. Carson City Fire Department was called to the lower Ash Canyon area for the vehicle rollover, in which the driver told emergency responders had been caused by brake failure. All four men had self-extricated from the vehicle by the time CCFD arrived on scene.
In rugged terrain, the vehicle rolled along a switchback after losing its brakes on the trail. The vehicle rolled off the trail around 10 feet in the rugged terrain.
CCFD used the battalion chief's vehicle and a UTV to make access to the men, where they were transported to a clearing area. Care Flight air ambulances 2 and 3 landed separately to transport the injured men, said Pedrini.
