Carson City Farmer’s Market to host Children’s Art Contest through July

The Carson Farmers Market will be hosting a "Farm to Table" Art Contest for Kids throughout July.

Only Original Works of art totally produced by the artist will be accepted.

Two dimensional hand drawn, unframed artwork on 8.5" x 11" paper. Any medium is acceptable as long as it is flat.
Either horizontal or vertical format is accepted.
Limit one entry per child.

The following will be disqualified:

  • Artwork that is folded, mounted, matted, framed, or 3-Dimensional
  • computer images, copies, photographs
  • entries not properly labeled

Who can enter:

There are five age group categories.
Each age group will be awarded (1) Winner and (2) Honorable Mentions.

  • 5 - 8 years of age
  • 9 - 11 years of age
  • 12 - 14 years of age
  • 15 - 16 years of age
  • 17 - 18 years of age

How the contest will be Judged, Winners, and Prizes:

Three Judges will select work on artistic merit, creativity and interpretation.

The focus is 'Farm to Table’ - Farms, Farmer’s Market and Healthy Food.

'Farm to Table' winning artwork will be exhibited on July 27, 2019, during the Carson Farmers Market @ 3rd & Curry St. and posted on the Fm. Mkt. FB page.

Ribbons will be awarded to the Winners and 2 honorable mentions in each age category. Friends and Families are invited to attend.

How to submit Artwork, pick up Contest Rules and Entry Forms @ Kid’s Booth

Artwork must have the following information, written in pencil, on the back, in the lower right hand corner:
Title of Artwork, Artist’s First and Last Name, age, Names of parents or guardians, Home address with city and zip code Phone humber with area code

July 6 and 13 Contest Rules are available at Kid’s Booth, during market hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
July 20, 2019 Entry forms available when Artwork is submitted, in person: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Original Artwork submitted by the artist must have an Entry form attached.

July 27 Exhibit 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Winners announced at 10 a.m. Ribbons awarded. Artwork not on display, may be picked up during market hours on July 27.

During the Carson City School Board meeting of trustees held Tuesday night, a public commenter brought forth an issue that had occurred earlier this week at Eagle Valley Middle School.

CARSON CITY — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week released the 2023 Adult Obesity Prevalence Maps. Thus, it was determined by Animal Ark’s veterinarian, Dr. Lesli Spears and NDOWs Wildlife Health Specialist, Dr. Nate LaHue, that it was in the animal’s best interest to be euthanized.

On Sept. 22 at approximately 8 a.m. Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch received a call reference an Instagram post. A patrol deputy responded to the reporting party and viewed a “screen shot” of the post saying, “School shooting October 10th Eagle Valley Middle School” with 2 gun emojis following the post. The account had on it, “I like to do shootings every single year” with a gun emoji.

Wednesday, Sept. 25, will be a minimum, early release day for all schools in the Carson City School District. Educators utilize this time for professional learning while students have the remainder of the day off.
