Former UN Ambassador to join Nevada Senate candidate, Milwaukee sheriff at Basque Fry
Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr., of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and U.S. Congressman Dr. Joe Heck will be among the featured speakers at the Second Annual Basque Fry on Aug. 20, 2016, the Morning in Nevada PAC announced Tuesday.
The Basque Fry, which will be held at Corley Ranch in Gardnerville has quickly become one of Nevada’s most popular events among conservative and Republican activists, attracting political, business and community leaders from around the state and the country. The inaugural Basque Fry in 2015 drew more than 1,500 attendees, including several then-candidates for president.
“During this time of enormous challenges facing our state and our country, it is an honor to have Ambassador Bolton, Sheriff Clarke and Congressman Heck join us in celebrating a rich Nevada tradition, and also in renewing our commitment to the principles that will help create a better and brighter future,” said Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, the Basque Fry’s chief supporter and organizer.
Bolton, who was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2005-06 and has served in multiple presidential administrations, is among the nation’s leading intellectuals on national security policy. Clarke is currently serving his fourth full term as Milwaukee County sheriff, and has emerged as one of the country’s most outspoken and prominent critics of destructive progressive policies and defenders of strong, effective law enforcement. Both Bolton and Clarke are FOX News contributors.
Dr. Heck, a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserves who represents Nevada’s Third Congressional District, is the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate seat now held by retiring Sen. Harry Reid.
Additional speakers for the event will be announced as confirmed.
The Basque Fry is held to celebrate Nevada’s rich Basque heritage, as the most prominent descendant of Basque sheepherders in state history is also among Nevada’s most accomplished and respected political figures — former governor and U.S. senator Paul Laxalt. The grandfather of Adam Laxalt, Sen. Laxalt regularly hosted Basque lamb fry events throughout his career, both in Nevada and in Washington, D.C.
The Morning in Nevada PAC was created in 2015 by friends of Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt to help fund conservative causes, candidates and organizations. The Basque Fry is its signature event.
