Cast Iron Kiddos founder offers cast iron cooking, life skills class; proceeds go to Carson Valley Community Food Closet
GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — JuliAnn Stitick, founder of Cast Iron Babe and Cast Iron Kiddos, says she is devoted to building cast iron-strong families through cooking and life skills activity kits and classes. She begins with a cast iron cooking class for kids ages 5-10 on Thursday, July 13, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1251 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. To register, call JuliAnn Stitick at (775) 400-1086.
The class is intended for kiddos and their parent/grandparent/adult friend to do together, Stitick said.
“It includes basic table setting, simple table manners, fun conversation starters, kitchen safety, and making our world-class slow-cooked butter skillet toast,” she said. “The purpose of this class is for kiddos and their parent/grandparent/adult friend to have fun, build relationships and give kiddos the essential skills they need to be independent and confident good citizens.”
The class costs $50 for one child and one adult, and a portion of the proceeds will support the CVCFC.
“The Food Closet has been generous in opening their kitchen for this program,” Stitick said. “We, in turn, are providing milk, butter, cheese, and yogurt to the CVCFC as those are some of the items needed most by their patrons.”
Stitick said she has devoted her life to building strong, confident kiddos, families and communities, and is excited about this first class in a series. Future classes will support a variety of age groups, including teens, moms, dads, young adults with special needs and seniors who are re-learning skills.
“We teach kids valuable life and social skills while supporting their parents/grandparents on how to successfully interact with them,” she said. “With the significant shifts in how families are choosing to educate their kiddos, our activity kits and classes provide enrichment and social skills that equip kiddos for life.”
Stitick also offers live events for families, organizations and special occasions as well as her values-driven YouTube show, Cast Iron Babe, which offers a unique blend of cooking segments, cast iron how-tos, and life skills that set kiddos and families up for success.
