Carson City man jailed for driving stolen vehicle, giving false name
A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for alleged felony possession of stolen property and multiple misdemeanor offenses, a sheriff's deputy report said.
Jerry Michael Ryan was taken into custody at 5:48 p.m. in the area of East Nye and Bowers. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving with a revoked license, obstructing an officer, two failure to appear warrants and a contempt of court warrant.
According to the arrest report, a deputy did a traffic stop on a pickup that didn't have a visible license plate.
The driver identified himself verbally with a name that turned out wasn't his real name. He told the officer he did not have a driver's license or identification card and provided a social security name that didn't match the name he gave.
The man told the deputy he did not have registration or insurance for the vehicle. A check of the VIN number through dispatch returned as a vehicle stolen from Reno.
The man was arrested for suspicion of possession of stolen property, a felony. Deputies located a Nevada identification card underneath the driver's seat where his proper name was learned. Dispatch advised the man had three warrants for his arrest from the Justice Court in Sparks and that his license had been revoked. Total bail amount listed: $29,220.

— A 46-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday in the area of Retail and College Parkway for misdemeanor a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation.
According to the arrest report, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates. A deputy checked the identification of one of the occupants, where it was learned she was on Alternative Sentencing with a condition not to drink alcohol or do drugs.
A canine did a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted positive. Deputies located marijuana in the woman's purse. A Department of Alternative Sentencing officer advised to arrest the woman for DAS violation. Bail: $1,000.
— A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 7:07 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Fifth Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued June 25, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $870.
— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 9:50 a.m. in the 600 block of East College Parkway for misdemeanor fictitious registration, no proof of insurance, driving without a valid license and obstructing. Bail: $1,453.
— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 11:59 p.m. in the area of Curry and Bath streets for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, misdemeanor obstructing and driving with a suspended registration. Bail: $624.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman, Darla Wendy Demarco, was arrested Tuesday, 10:56 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Corbett streets for a felony warrant alleging embezzlement. Bail: $5,000.
