Two Carson City residents identified in fatal July 4 crash on Kingsbury Grade
A Carson City couple have been identified in the Tuesday night July 4 fatal head-on crash that happened on Kingsbury Grade in Douglas County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Thomas William Guard, 52 and Moriah Ann Williams, 38, died of injuries sustained in the crash involving a gray 2012 Scion and a Ford F150, said NHP Trooper Dan Gordon.
The female driver and the male passenger in a Ford F150 were both transported by CareFlight to a Reno hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
At approximately 9:26 p.m., NHP troopers were called to respond to SR207 (Kingsbury Grade) approximately 2 miles up from Foothill Road for a serious injury head on crash.
The preliminary investigation shows the gray 2012 Scion Xb driven by Guard was traveling eastbound down Kingsbury Grade. A white 2013 Ford F150 was traveling westbound up Kingsbury Grade. According to NHP's preliminary investigation, the driver of the Scion allowed the vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines into the westbound travel lane causing the two vehicles to strike head on, said Gordon.
The driver of the Scion and both driver and passenger in the F150 were wearing seat belts. The passenger in the Scion was not restrained. There was also a dog in the Scion that succumbed to injuries from the crash, said Gordon.
