Carson City Independence Day carnival, fireworks show tonight at Mills Park
Carson City with light up underneath the rockets red glare Sunday night at Mills Park for the July 4 fireworks celebration hosted by Nevada Rural Counties RSVP.
The fireworks show will begin around 9:30 p.m., and will be set to a live radio broadcast by Wild 102.9 FM. Activities Sunday features carnival rides, games, and food. Live music will be played from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. by Jake Armer and the Hotdogs. See the Facebook events page here.

As a reminder personal use of fireworks is illegal in Carson City. Fire danger is very high; the use of fireworks can have severe consequences. Even “Safe and Sane” labeled fireworks which may include cone fountains, sparklers, wheels and whistles are illegal in Carson City. To report firework use call 887-COPS (2677).
In Douglas County, the town of Genoa presents its Genoa Americana Celebration at Mormon Station State Park now through 6 p.m. The event will feature Americana bands until 4 p.m. as well as the Carson City Symphony at 4:30 p.m. Chicken dinners will be available for purchase. Elsewhere, Virginia City’s Fourth of July Celebration officially started at noon Sunday with the parade down C Street lined with red, white and blue and candy-collecting kids waving their flags. Beginning at 6 p.m. revelers can enjoy live music from David John and the Comstock Cowboys, a free concert held at the Bucket of Blood parking lot. At dark, the day’s festivities culminate with fireworks.
A group of South Lake Tahoe businesses and residents have joined forces to produce a small fireworks show on July 4 beginning at 9:20 p.m. at the Stateline corridor. Go here for more information and to donate to the cause.
