Second suspect in Carson City auto parts store robbery in custody
The second suspect in an armed robbery Monday night of an O’Reilly auto parts store on North Carson Street was arrested Friday in Reno, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Jermaine Jordan, 31, turned himself into Washoe County Sheriff’s Office on a robbery with use of deadly weapon warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court alleging his involvement in the auto parts store robbery.
According to the arrest report, a deputy assigned to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team was contacted by a detective who learned Jordan had turned himself in on the warrant. The deputy and detective drove to Reno and picked Jordan who is now in Carson City Jail with a $100,000 bail.
On Wednesday deputies arrested Anthony Melendrez in connection with the robbery. Melendrez was taken into custody in the 2100 block of Victorian Avenue in Sparks. He’s been charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held at Carson City Jail on $100,000 bail.
Jordan was booked on the robbery with use of a deadly weapon charge and two other warrants out of Carson City Justice Court: Failure to appear on a traffic citation and a contempt of court warrant out of East Fork Township.
The robbery happened at around 10 p.m. Monday after the store had closed. Clerks told investigators that two men entered the back of the auto parts store, presented a pistol and baseball bat and then robbed the store of its daily intake money.
In other arrests:
— A 25-year-old Carson City woman, Elizabeth Hopkins-Sandoval, was arrested Saturday, 4:15 a.m. on suspicion of felony domestic battery and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest report, the woman and her boyfriend were arguing inside a casino. The woman threw a glass of water in the man’s face and began yelling at him in the presence of officers. The woman admitted to drinking at the bar with her boyfriend and they got into an argument. She was placed under arrest. During an search of her purse officers found several prescription bottles with pills that she did not have a prescription. Bail: $5,637.
— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:28 a.m. in the 1900 block of Newman Place on misdemeanor suspicion of accident hit and run. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched earlier in the morning regarding a hit and run crash of an unoccupied vehicle. A neighbor of the victim reported hearing a crash and seeing a Jeep leave the area and then park inside a garage at a nearby residence.
A deputy investigated the scene, including picking up pieces of the Jeep. He went to the residence with a search warrant and asked to see the Jeep in the garage and observed damage to the Jeep consistent with the crash involving the victim’s parked vehicle. The 25-year-old driver admitted to the crashing the Jeep into the vehicle. Bail: $637.
— A 50-year-old San Francisco man was arrested Saturday, 2:59 a.m. in the 4000 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. $1,249.
— A 67-year-old Carson City woman arrested Saturday, 12:19 a.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of second offense DUI and failure to yield the right of way on a left turn. Bail: $2,749.
— A 73-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday, 6:48 p.m. in the area of Fairview and Butti way on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence. Bail: $1,137.
— A 27-year-old Carosn City man was booked into jail Friday, 3 p.m. on two misdemeanor warrants: criminal contempt and failure to appear. Bail: $1,443.
— A 46-year-old Minden man was arrested Friday, 8:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Russell Way on two misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear and domestic battery. Bail: $4,446.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Friday on two contempt of court warrants. Bail: $2,000.
— A 21-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Friday on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail; $1,000.
