Fatal pedestrian hit and run in Douglas County
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has reported a pedestrian has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident involving a motor vehicle early Saturday morning.
At about 5 a.m. Saturday, DCSO deputies were dispatched to the area of Fremont Street and Johnson Lane in Minden for a possible injured pedestrian in the roadway.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located a male subject in the roadway with significant physical trauma. A preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian victim was struck by a vehicle and succumbed to the injuries sustained from being struck.
The incident is a joint investigation conducted by DCSO and Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP). Identity of the victim is unknown at this time, but he appeared to be of hispanic or Filipino decent with an approximate age in the late teens to early twenties.
DCSO Investigator Leland Love and Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the NHP Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) are investigating this crash.
