Carson City SET deputies arrest juvenile homicide suspect in traffic stop along with four other suspects
On June 29, 2023, at about 5:39 p.m., A Special Enforcement Team detective noticed a vehicle committing an improper stop at a red light at North Carson and West Musser. The detective conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 36-year-old Navdip Kahira. A male and female juvenile were also in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
As the traffic stop investigation progressed, the SET detective discovered Navdip Kahira had a felony arrest warrant out of Lyon County, Nevada. The female passenger attempted to conceal her identity but was later identified and found to have a homicide warrant out of San Joaquin, California. The male juvenile passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
As a result of information obtained during the traffic stop, detectives of the Special Enforcement Team worked with detectives from the Investigations Division, and the Special Weapons and Tactics team members assigned to Patrol to serve a search warrant on a room at Motel 6. As a result of the search warrant two more juveniles were arrested for possession of marijuana. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office regarding the apprehension of their homicide suspect and items located during the arrests and search warrant.
