Most evacuations lifted in Peavine Mountain fire, 8 structures burned
Firefighters continued fire suppression operations Sunday on the Poeville Fire burning on the east side of Peavine Mountain northwest of Reno.
The fire actively burned Saturday night in brush and grass and as of Sunday afternoon was 10 percent contained and is between 3,000 to 3,500 acres. At least 8 structures burned, according to Truckee Meadows Fire.
Most road closures and evacuations have been lifted, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. All roads are back open except for Heindel Road and Meyers Avenue and northbound North Virginia Street from Lemon Drive to Stead Boulevard remains closed.
Fire crews continued to secure and increase containment lines today. Uhlig’s Nevada Interagency Team 3 is expected to take over command of the fire Monday. Also of Sunday afternoon more than 270 personnel were on the fire from 11 different agencies. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday with a cold front passing through overnight with cooler temperatures expected Monday. West winds are gusting up to 30 miles per hour (mph) and could increase to 40 or 50 mph. The public should expect to experience smoke in the Reno, Sparks metro area and blowing dust, according to fire officials.
In the photo: Crews from Penryn Fire (CA) rescued an injured fawn in the wild land, according to Truckee Meadows Fire. Animal control transported the fawn for care, which suffered first and second degree burns on its nose and hooves.
