On Friday night, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished a brush fire on Peavine Mountain, which has now been named the Poeville Fire. There were no injuries and no buildings were threatened, and the fire was contained at 1.4 acres.
However, due to high winds on Saturday, responders stated that the fire reignited, and voluntary evacuations are now in place with a 3 mile area around Seneca Drive. As of 3 p.m., Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue is asking all Seneca Drive residents to be ready to evacuate, and to leave now if possible.
The temporary evacuation shelter is at the Washoe County Senior Center near Wells, located at 1155 E. 9th Street in Reno.
Evacuees are asked to stay in their cars and maintain social distancing at the Senior Center, and the Red Cross will come to you with water and resources.
The Reno Livestock Events Center is taking livestock evacuations.
