Cause of Sunday night's fire at vacant apartment off Little Lane under investigation
The cause of a fire late Sunday that destroyed a vacant apartment unit and caused moderate damage to another unit off of Little Lane on Centerville is under investigation, said Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon.
On Sunday at approximately 11:20 p.m. Carson City firefighter crews were dispatched to the structure fire at the vacant apartment complex under construction located off of Little Lane on Centerville. Fire suppression efforts managed to limit the damage to two units, crews battling the blaze saved surrounding properties and damages are estimated at $225,000, said Slamon.
The fire was declared under control at approximately 12:45 a.m. Crews remained on scene overhauling the fire until 1:45 a.m.
Mutual Aid from several departments was required with both structure fire suppression efforts and to cover additional emergency calls. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
