Additional information released regarding Tuesday’s fatal rollover crash that led to 15-year-old Carson City resident's death
On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at approximately 11:41p.m., Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to reports of a rollover crash on IR-580 northbound at Fairview Drive in Carson City.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a gray 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV was traveling north on IR-580 approaching Fairview Drive.
For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned. The front passenger who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected from the vehicle.
The male front passenger of the Jeep (a 15-year-old Carson City resident) succumbed to his injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The rear female passenger, a juvenile, was transported to an area hospital by Care Flight with serious injuries.
The male driver of the Jeep, a juvenile, sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. Speed is a suspected factor in this crash.

This marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Northern Command West’s 34th fatal crash for 2022, resulting in 34 fatalities.
