Carson City Board approves grant for ADA compliance on Desatoya Dr., youth trauma program
Two projects were approved for Community Development Block Grant funding from the Governor’s Office for Economic Development on Thursday which address youth trauma programs and ADA sidewalk compliance.
Carson City’s allocation for Fiscal Year 2023 is $482,788. Two applications were received for grant funding, the first from the Ron Wood Family Resource Center and the second from Carson City Public Works.
A maximum of 15 percent is allowed for public services, a minimum of 65 percent must be spent on public facilities and improvements, and a maximum of 10 percent is allowed for administration.
$35,000 was approved for Ron Wood Family Resource Center for a new youth program called the Family Resilience Project. This program is deigned to address intergenerational family trauma.
$330,000 was approved for Public Works to complete ADA improvements on Desatoya Drive between Airport and Fairview. Improvements include reconstruction of new pedestrian curb ramps to be ADA compliant replacing substandard sidewalks and improving crosswalk safety.
The remaining $69,510 in funding will be allocated in the next grant cycle.
