Carson City Community Radio joins radio partners in honoring George Floyd Tuesday

To commemorate the life of George Floyd, tune in this Tuesday, June 9 at noon, to KNVC 95. 1 FM, Carson City Community Radio and join more than one hundred community radio station partners, coast-to-coast, that are simultaneously broadcasting the legendary Sam Cooke civil rights anthem, “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Mr. Floyd’s killing has been the focus of international protests. Many communities are struggling with the issues raised by his death, including racial injustice and police misconduct.

Mr. Floyd will be laid to rest on Tuesday in a private ceremony in Houston Texas.

"Music is healing and speaks for all of us," said KNVC Program Director, Joe Bly. "We are coming together with our sister stations nationwide to grieve and heal as a community, and as a nation."

The National Federal of Community Broadcasters organized this nationwide remembrance.

"As our country deals with the hurt and outrage of what happened to George Floyd, these stations are in their communities, feeling this sorrow too," said NFCB Program Director Ernesto Aguilar. "Stations together, we will play a song to speak as a unified voice for change, justice, and love."

If you are outside KNVC's listening area, join the commemoration online at www.knvc.org.
