Signs go up, interior work continues at new Carson City music and food venue
The signs they are a changing. At least that’s the case at the Nashville Social Club, the soon to be opened Nashville-style food and music venue in Carson City. As the new exterior signs went up these past few weeks, so did the buzz about what’s to come. Inside the building big changes are taking place, like kitchen upgrades, a major transformation of the lounge/dining room and the building of the main stage.
Co-owner Kitty McKay says exciting things are developing with the menu. “We recently partnered with MisBeehaven Farm in Dayton to feature their delicious honey and man oh man, it’s killer atop our freshly-baked Angel Biscuits. We’ll be selling it in our retail shop too,” she said. “For other menu items Chef Tony is keeping it local whenever he can and is actively working on partnering with other purveyors whose products mesh with our philosophy.”
General Manager, Denise Sullivan, lights up when talking about featuring unique cocktails. “Our distilled spirits vendors are helping us bring in Nashville and Tennessee whiskeys and bourbons to the bar. We’ll be carrying distinctive makers that aren’t readily available in our area, served with a nod to Nashville and its iconic musical influences.”
Denise finds all of the activity in the building invigorating. “There is a lot of construction going on, and while a bit chaotic, the commotion is energizing. Of all the progress I’m watching, one of the biggest things for me is the evolution of the incredible mural Tony Jackson, owner of Rice Street Tattoo, is bringing to life. Thanks to his artistry the neon lights of Broadway in Nashville are looking mighty ‘at home’ in the halls of the club.”
The happenings inside the venue will be broadcast far beyond the outside walls, as well. Airwaves from the Nashville Social Club in-house radio studio (with video streaming) will be regularly carried on KNVC Community Radio locally and streaming back to Nashville and the nation. With a focus on guest artist interviews, music discovery and building audience for up-and-coming musicians, restaurant guests and concert-goers will be able to watch live as the magic happens in studio.
Entertainment Director Evangeline Elston credits owners Kitty McKay and John Procaccini with igniting the spirit of music city within the hearts of staff and the community. “Their passion is at the core of the entire project from conception to fruition. I don’t know of another venture in the region that has married the concept of food and music so completely,” she said. “While this is something you see more in the south, I think people in our region will connect with it immediately, and be delighted to claim it as their own.”
Elston will be releasing the music line up soon. In the meantime, she is beyond excited to be part of the team. “This is so huge for Carson City! I know folks have been dreaming of a place in town that combines vibing surroundings, incredible food and world class entertainment. NSC is going to elevate the profile of Carson City regionally and nationally. To finally have a hub for this kind of community connection is 100% positive.”
The Nashville Social Club is on track to open in July. The music calendar will be released soon as well as ticketing information. To stay “in the know” sign up for the mailing list at www.thenashvilleclub.com.
