Carson City's 'Ideas on Tap' discussion focuses on how local communities promote themselves
Ideas on Tap, a discussion of Carson City area community issues that features guest speakers, has relaunched and will host its third event for 2021 on Wednesday, June 9.
This month's topic is "Promoting your city: Telling the story." An expert panelist has been assembled to discuss the great things that's going on in some of Northern Nevada's cities and towns.
Created by Mike Smith, Ideas on Tap happens on the second Wednesday of each month at The Union Eatery and Brewery, 302 North Carson Street (at Proctor) from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Smith has renamed the gathering as "Ideas on Tap 3.0: An Interactive Community Discussion."
The first meeting of 2021 was on April 7 and the topic was Teaching and Learning in the Pandemic. His panel was three nationally recognized local teachers who did an excellent job of covering the pluses and minuses of a very challenging pair of school years. On May 12 the topic was "Addressing Mental Health," a conversation with mental local health heroes.
Other upcoming discussions include:
— July 14, Brain Drain: Retaining the best and brightest
— August 11, Policing and Criminal Justice: Finding a balance between protection and abuse of power
