Low cost summer programs available for teens and youth, no cost lunch and teen activities at Carson City Boys and Girls Club
What will your high school teen be doing this summer? Lounging in front of the TV, fixed to their phone? After a year of being stuck at home, it’s time to get your teen out of the house, socializing with others and engaging in summer fun.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is pleased to announce that high school teens are welcome at the Carson City Club for just $60 this summer! High school teens will not be charged a weekly fee. The Teen Center at BGCWN is traveling the world each week, exploring international cuisine and cultural activities.
Field trips to Urban Air, Lake Tahoe, Wild Island and more are also planned, and the Club is using a portion of snack bar sales to help teens attend field trips.
“Providing a safe and engaging place for our teens to spend the summer, is what our Club is all about,” said Matt Sampson, director of operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. “We welcome all high school teens to join us for a summer packed with activities. Bring your friends, or make new ones. Our doors are open.”
The BGCWN also provides a low-cost summer camp program for youth kindergarten age and up. Information is available on the website at www.bgcwn.org
What About Lunch?
Food insecurity is a growing problem among youth and teens, particularly in the summer months when school is out. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, any child between the ages of 0 and 18 can get a free lunch at the Carson City Club between noon and 1 p.m. Monday-Friday.
“We’ve been a long-standing provider of free lunch for kids in our area, and we are pleased to offer a free lunch to any child who needs it this summer,” said Sampson. On-site hot lunches will be served to all youth who are enrolled for the Club, and sack lunches will be available through a walk/drive-thru service at the Club for any child in our community ages 0-18.
Programs like these are made possible because of the ongoing support and generosity of donors and sponsors in our community, and we are always accepting donations. Visit www.bgcwn.org or text “Rally” to 336283.
