Carson City arrests: Wrong way driver jailed for DUI, drug possession
A 32-year-old man was arrested Monday for a warrant alleging felony domestic battery with strangulation, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Robert Reeves, listed as a transient, was taken into custody at 10:16 a.m. in the area of Sixth and Curry Street.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to an unknown dispute involving a subject with a knife. Carson City dispatch advised the subjects involved were leaving in an older vehicle. A sheriff's sergeant and a deputy conducted a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle at 6th and Curry streets.
Reeves was the driver of the vehicle. Dispatch advised he had a warrant out of Carson City alleging battery committed by strangulation, a category C felony. Bail: $5,000.
In other arrests:
— A 45-year-old Carson City man, Jose Manuel Salazar Cano, was arrested Monday, 8:04 a.m. in the area of Hobart Road and Old Highway 395 for possession of a controlled substance, DUI and failure to maintain a lane of traffic.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff's deputy was called to the area of Hobart Road and Lakeview for a suspicious vehicle.
The deputy located the vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lane on Eastlake Boulevard heading toward Old U.S. 395 north. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop when the vehicle pulled to the left, nearly striking the freeway retaining wall.
The vehicle then immediately pulled to the right, crossing both lanes of the roadway. The vehicle pulled to a stop near the intersection of Hobart Road and Lakeview Road. The deputy observed a single occupant in the driver's seat. The man provided his name. The officer observed his eyes were red and watery and that there was fresh blood on his right nostril, the report states.
The man provided a receipt for proof of insurance from 2017. He was asked if he would submit to field sobriety tests. He agreed and showed signs of impairment. After several attempts, the man provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .099. He was taken into custody and to jail.
During the intake search a deputy located a folded up $5 bill with .05 grams of cocaine. He faces a felony drug charge as well as suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane. Bail: $2,500.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued April 11, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500 cash only.
