A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the sierras Friday morning according to the U.S. Geological Service.

The earthquake originated 8 kilometers south east of Dollar Point, Calif., and began at 8:25 a.m.

Nevada Rural Housing announced it is accepting holiday gift donations for the residents of the Richards Crossing apartment complex in Carson City. A 42-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday morning for multiple felony offenses including alleged home invasion, burglary and vehicle theft, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

UPDATE 9:18AM: NV Energy reports power mostly restored throughout Douglas County. The problem appears to be caused by equipment failure at the Buckeye Transfer Station in Douglas County. East Fork Fire units responded to the fire in the equipment area and NV Energy is working on the damage. Power has been fully restored for South Lake Tahoe area customers.

More than 17,000 NV Energy customers are without power Monday morning, while thousands more across the state line in South Lake Tahoe are also experiencing an outage.

Everyone who reads the local news knows a large number of collisions occur on US50 between Round Hill and Cave Rock, many of those caused by vehicles crossing over the double yellow center line.

The Peace Poster Contest is an international contest that encourages children, ages 11 to 13, to creatively express what peace means to them.

Several minors were arrested Wednesday in Dayton after Lyon County deputies responded to a 911 report describing an attempted burglary.

According to deputies, multiple juveniles were in the area of Mark Twain Park in Dayton when another group of juveniles began following them.
