Population boom expected in Carson City, EDAWN study says
As of 2018, the state certified population of Carson City was 56,057. There are many studies out there showing population and many of these reports show the U.S. Census Bureau as their source and their latest estimate for 2018 showed 55,414.
So, the exact count can’t be determined, but we know we are somewhere in between. The whole point is that there has been growth. How much, we won’t really know, but depending on which study you think best, you can determine the stat.
The study commissioned by EDAWN, Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, as prepared by RCG Economics has determined this year — 2019 — the population of Carson City is to be around 57,115.
If the 57,115 projection is correct, it is no wonder Carson City is experiencing both a housing and apartment shortage. Of course, growth is good for business.
At the Chamber, we see quite the steady stream of those wishing to relocate to this city or the surrounding area.

To add to the confusion of what to believe when reading stats, here’s a good one. The U.S. Census Bureau released on May 23 that Henderson is the fastest growing city in Nevada and on May 24, the Reno-Gazette Journal declared Sparks was announced as the fastest growing city in our state. So, who you gonna believe?
