Carson City arrests: Man allegedly slashes tires, jailed for felony assault and domestic battery

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday morning for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, gross misdemeanor destruction of property, and misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff's deputy report said.

Derek Anthony Randolph was taken into custody at 1:44 a.m. at the Carson City Sheriff's Office. According to the arrest report, deputies were called at 11:49 p.m. Sunday to a Carriage Crest Drive address for a report of a domestic battery.

Dispatch advised the victim, who was involved in the domestic battery, had left the residence as was located nearby. Dispatch advised the male involved was still at the residence and was the only person in the home.

A deputy arrived and witnessed the man standing in the center of the road. The officer got out of his patrol vehicle and saw the man holding an object in each of his hands that resembled knives. He was asked by the officer what was going on, the report states.

The man replied "You tell me." The officer replied by saying "I don't know. I don't even know who you are." The officer asked the man what was in his hands and the suspect replied not to worry about it. The officer instructed the man to show him his hands. The man told the officer "shoot me." The officer again told the man to show him what was in his hands. The man replied "suicide by cop," the report states.

The officer had his flashlight pointed in the man's direction so the officer could see what was in his hands. The man said he would talk if the officer turned off the flashlight. The officer said he wasn't going to turn the light off and the man then began backing toward the driveway and said "then go ahead and shoot me. I'm not scared to die," the arrest report states.

The man turned around and walked into the garage, stating, "Im not scared to die. Are you?" And then went through the door in the garage and into the residence.

More deputies arrived on scene as well as the watch commander and the sheriff. A deputy spoke with the victim who stated her boyfriend had pushed her to the ground, bit her finger and poured dog water all over her.

Deputies believed the suspect was still in the residence and so commands were given over the PA system to come out of house with his hands in the air. Dispatched advised they were attempting to called the man but were unable to make contact. After approximately 15-20 minutes of commands, deputies searched the residence and backyard. He was not found at the residence.

Deputies searched the residence for evidence and found three knives with broken blades in the driveway, a piece of blade that was sticking to the side wall of one of the victim's Jeep tires, the front passenger tire had been slashed and was flat, and the hood of the victim's vehicle had been dented and scratched.

There was a glass flamingo strung through the driveway and the garage, and a knife blade that had a bent blade in the kitchen. Deputies noted the door that went from the garage into the kitchen had been kicked open due to the fact the door jamb was completely busted apart. Deputies took photos of the scene and booked them into evidence, the arrest report states.

The victim was medically assessed from the Carson City Fire Department. The woman denied needing medical attention. Deputies interviewed the victim who stated the two were at a bar, and returned to their residence. The victim stated the suspect was angry because they left the bar for the residence early.

The victim said she had went to a bedroom and put a blanket over her head to sleep. She said the suspect went into the room and removed the blanket and left the room. The victim said she went to talk to the man to diffuse the situation and that he pushed her to the ground, the arrest report states.

The victim stated her son came down the stairs and began arguing with the suspect. The son was told to leave the home. The victim stated she was pushed again to the ground and that when she got up, the suspect grabbed her arm and bit her left middle finger. She stated the man let her go and walked into the kitchen. She stated the man grabbed her arms and she feared he was going to throw her to the ground again and so she bit his arms and punched him to get away, the report states.

She stated she got away from the man, who then grabbed a knife and attempted to slash her in the stomach. She stated she attempted to run out of the home and that he pushed her again. She said the man then kicked her in the legs multiple times and threw a dog bowl of water on her. She said she was able to get away from the man and went to a neighbor's residence for help, the report states.

Later, dispatch was advised the man was at the sheriff's office with a relative and was to turn himself in. Officers arrived at the sheriff's office and escorted the man to the jail. He was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak.

He told deputies the victim attacked him, bit him and punched him. He said he flipped out and fled the scene, the arrest report states. He told the officer he was unaware the victim had injuries. The deputy advised he knew the suspect had bitten the victim. The man replied "really?" the arrest report states.

He proceeded to tell the deputy that he was only going to believe the victim's side of the story. The man had multiple cuts to both wrists, bite marks on both forearms and a bruise under his eye. He was asked how he got the cuts. The man said he attempted to cut himself. The cuts were superficial and not bleeding. The man declined medical attention. Deputies determined he was the primary aggressor. Bail. $25,774.

In other arrests:
— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Devin Michael Henry Mathews, was arrested Monday morning for felony suspicion of indecent exposure. According to the arrest report, the man was walking in the roadway nude. A deputy ordered the man to get out of the roadway. The man did not comply to orders or commands. The man rambled that he was a "time traveling god" and saying he was here to save humanity. The man was arrested. Carson City Fire Department responded to assess the man's medical needs and mental health. The man was taken to the hospital. He was medically cleared and placed under arrest. Bail: $5,000.

— A 26-year-old transient woman, Ashlee Nicole Karow, was arrested Saturday, 9:58 a.m. in the 1100 block of Ridgefield for suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, a felony contempt of court warrant and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, deputies were notified by a store in the 3100 block of Market Street that a larceny had happened. Officers were advised the suspect had left the area and began walking. She was found hiding in the bushes and detained.

Deputies were advised the woman had a felony warrant out of Carson City for contempt of court. She was arrested. While searching through her purse deputies located several items of drug paraphernalia including syringes, burned tin foil commonly used with heroin, a spoon commonly used with heroin and numerous small clear plastic bags, commonly used to package narcotics. Also located was a small container with methamphetamine. Bail: $6,137.

— A 36-year-old Idaho Falls, Idaho woman, Lisa Ann Bradshaw, was booked Sunday into Carson City Jail for six felony warrants: three counts burglary, grand larceny, fraudulent use of a credit card, and obtaining money under false pretense. She also was booked for two misdemeanor warrants: Violation of a suspended sentence and contempt of court. The warrants were issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $28,500.

— A 37-year-old transient woman, Kristina Joan Patti, was booked into Carson City jail Sunday on a felony and misdemeanor warrant out of Churchill County. The warrants allege first offense burglary and obtaining money under false pretenses. Bail: $11,000.

— 39-year-old Carson City man, Adrian Jones, was arrested Sunday, 4 p.m. at Carson City Jail for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner.

According to the arrest report, at around 7 p.m. Saturday, a sergeant informed a jail rove deputy that a battery in the jail may have happened. Deputies spoke with an inmate who as actively bleeding from the left side of his face. The deputy asked the man what happened. He said he was stabbed in the face by inmate Jones at around 3 p.m.

The victim stated he and the two were talking about snitches in the jail and someone trying to poison the victim's food. He stated the suspect got up from the chair he was sitting in and stabbed him on the left side of his face.

The officer asked the victim what Jones did with the weapon, which punctured his face, and the victim stated he believed the suspect had rolled the item into his bed linen. The victim had a puncture wound on the left side of his face.

The wound was a hole which went through his cheek into his mouth and was actively bleeding with blood trickling down his face. He was taken to the hospital for his wound. The victim stated he wanted to press charges, the arrest report states.

The suspect was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He stated he was scared and swung at the victim, apparently connecting with him in the moment of aggression, the report states. The suspect stated he believed when he hit the victim, the victim's tooth punctured the man's cheek from inside his mouth through his cheek. The suspect wrote a written statement regarding the incident. Bail: $20,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 2:24 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report deputies were called to the area regarding a domestic battery.

Deputies spoke with the woman who said she and her boyfriend had been drinking together all day, and that they got into an argument about taking a dog to a family party and that she had taken a nap. She was asked if the argument turned physical and she replied a little bit, the arrest report states. She said there was mutual pushing and shoving and that she got into his face and he pushed her back. She said he pushed her back and she punched him, then said she instead slapped and did not punch him, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the male victim who said the two had been arguing, and that she had slapped him in the left side of his face several times, grabbed him by the throat, and bit his leg. Deputies could see that the man's ear was red. He said he put his hands up to defend himself several times. The man showed the officer the bite mark on his upper right leg. Officers observed injury consistent with a bite, including bruising and blood.

The man said he was able to breath when he said the woman grabbed him by the throat. He said he continued to tell the woman to back off and stop hitting him.

Deputies interviewed the woman, who admitted to biting the man. Officers took photographs of the man's injuries. The woman was asked to submit to a preliminary breath test and had a result of .195. The man had a preliminary breath result of .74. The woman was arrested. Bail: $3,137.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10 p.m. in the area of Park Street and North Peters for gross misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon, a gun, possession of a concealed weapon, metal knuckles, and misdemeanor smoking marijuana in public.

According to the arrest report, deputies with the Tri-County Gang unit were on patrol and observed a man walking in the center of the road near Peters Street. The officer observed the man holding a glass marijuana pipe and lighter in his hand. The officer spoke with the man and informed him smoking marijuana in public was illegal. The pipe in his possession was warm from him smoking prior to contact.

Officers conducted a Terry search and located a .40 semi-automatic pistol located on the right side of his waist band. Also located was a set of metal knuckles in the man's rear pocket. He was taken into custody for two counts of concealing a dangerous weapon without a concealed to carry permit and attempting to smoke marijuana in public. Bail: $5,302.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the area of Highway 50 and Empire Ranch for suspicion of second DUI, driving with a revoked license, and failure to obey a traffic control device.

According to the arrest report, deputies conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the suspect, who showed signs of intoxication.

The man agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .212 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI second. A background check showed he had a prior DUI conviction in 2016. Bail: $3,886.
