Crews battle brush fire near Stagecoach; Carson City Fire Department knocks down small fire near Walmart

UPDATE 5:57PM: The Bureau of Land Management has taken over incident command of the fire near Stagecoach in Lyon County that started Sunday afternoon, according to emergency scanner traffic. As of last report, the fire was between 400 to 500 acres. KOLO reports the fire is 20 to 25 percent contained.

UPDATE 4:55PM: A wildfire that started Sunday afternoon in the Stagecoach area has burned between 400 to 500 acres as of late Sunday afternoon, said Lyon County Manager Jeff Page. No structures are threatened at this time, according to the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District. Nevada Division of Forestry crews are on scene with help from Storey County. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday afternoon to a brush fire in the area of Walmart and Home Depot.
The fire was reported at around 3:40 p.m. It had put up smoke, and was initially described as slow moving through brush. It was extinguished within a few minutes of arrival by the fire department.
The cause is under investigation.
Meanwhile there is a fire burning near Stagecoach in Lyon County. The fire is south of Highway 50 in the area of Caroline and Chavez roads. So far there has been no mention of structures threatened and only 1 mutual aid request, NDF hand crew. The fire is reportedly 4-5 acres and is burning in light to moderate fuels.
