Shaheen Beauchamp Builders completes Storey County Justice Court tenant improvements
CARSON CITY — Shaheen Beauchamp Builders has announced the completion of the Storey County Justice Court Facility in Virginia City. The court, which was previously located at the Historic Courthouse at 26 South B Street relocated approximately a half mile to its current location at 800 South C Street.
“After a little bit of demolition, we were able to go in and do some substantial tenant improvements”, said Mark Beauchamp, co-owner of Shaheen Beauchamp Builders. “The space was split between a gym and trophy shop which the county purchased and converted to the justice court facility.”
The relocation of the justice court was a public works project, which went through a competitive bidding process and was ultimately awarded to Shaheen Beauchamp Builders.
“Shaheen Beauchamp Builders have been fantastic to work with”, said Michael Northan, Operations and Project Coordinator for Storey County Public Works. “The new justice court is a modern and functional space that has worked well in the month it has been in operation.”
The newly relocated justice court handles civil, criminal, landlord-tenant, misdemeanor, small claims, and traffic cases and is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
The historic courthouse, built in 1876 after being destroyed in the great fire of 1875, is the state’s oldest continuously operating courthouse and will continue to house all district court proceedings.
