Nevada State Treasurer’s Office to host virtual event in honor of national 529 College Savings Day
On Thursday, May 27, 2021, in honor of National 529 College Savings Day, the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office is hosting a virtual event to provide information to families and students on how they can plan, save, and pay for a post-secondary education.
During the event, members of the College Savings Division will discuss the college savings programs available such as the Nevada College Kick Start Program and NV529 Plans, as well as additional resources and financial aid options like the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship.
The event begins at 3 p.m. and those interested can register for FREE here.
Additionally, as part of the continued celebration for National 529 College Savings Day, attendees will also receive information on how they can get free admission to the Nevada Discovery Museum in Reno on Saturday, May 29. For museum visitors on May 29, materials will be offered with additional information surrounding the college savings plan and while enjoying the museum, children will have the opportunity to draw a picture of their dream job and can enter their name in a random drawing to win $529 towards an SSGA Upromise 529 account. The winner will be announced the following week by the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office.
Nevada sponsors five different 529 plans, also known as Qualified Tuition Programs, which provide Nevadans with a flexible education investment account to save and pay for eligible higher education costs, including tuition, books, fees, and room and board.
SSGA Upromise 529 programs can be funded with as little as $15 per month and can be used for any accredited college, university, public, private, undergraduate or graduate school. Visit NVigate.gov/programs for more information.
