Carson City man booked for allegedly 'head butting' jail inmate
A 41-year-old inmate at Carson City jail was booked Monday for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner, according to a sheriff's office report.
Jonathan Craig Badbear of Carson City allegedly got into an argument with an inmate and is seen on video surveillance head butting the victim in the nose, according to the report.
Jail deputies conducted an interview with the victim, who stated that multiple inmates had made fun of him for asking for a special type of soap. The inmate stated he became upset and and began telling inmates things, and stated that is when a bigger inmate stood up and head butted him in the nose, the report states.
A jail deputy conducted an interview with the suspect, who was read his Miranda warning. Badbear acknowledged he understood his rights and spontaneously uttered that the inmate had been antagonizing the whole pod since he arrived and was making disrespectful statements, the report states.
Badbear stated the victim had called him a name and that was when he approached the victim and asked him if he "wanted to go." Badbear admitted to making a head butt movement toward the victim to scare him, but denied making contact. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 400 block of North Curry Street on Tuesday for a misdemeanor warrant alleging contempt of court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 62-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and driving with expired registration.
According to the booking report, a CCSO deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. The deputy observed the woman was possibly driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Her movements were rapid, her eyes were dilated or larger than what would be expected for daylight lighting conditions, and her lower jaw was moving when she was talking, the report states.
The woman denied using illicit drugs. She acknowledged she took a CNS depressant for a recent neck injury, and another medication that she did not know the name of. She agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of suspected impairment and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,209.
