Carson City sheriff's detectives ask for public's help identifying catalytic converter thief

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect involved in the theft of a catalytic converter that happened at a South Carson Street casino earlier this month.

The theft happened on May 8. The suspect vehicle is a black 1990’s Honda Accord wagon that was last seen driving East on Koontz from South Carson Street. The person of interest is the man getting into the black vehicle. Go here for surveillance video. Scroll through the photos and click on to enlarge.

According to CCSO Detective Sam Hatley, cases of catalytic converter theft are on the rise due to increased metal prices.

24-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street at a local department store for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, petit larceny, and two counts of violating pre-trial conditions.

Rumor Kamille Schilling was take into custody after deputies were dispatched to the store after she allegedly took a drink of some juice without paying and put it back on the shelf.

Open House at the Wungnema House

Spring is finally here, and Carson City is decked out in her spring finery. Sunday will be perfect for a stroll around town, so while you are out and about, stop by Mills Park for the Parks Foundation’s monthly open house at the Wungnema House, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Wungnema House is the charming stone cottage located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after WWII and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.

There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.
