Traffic backed up due to chase, traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists

UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: Dispatch announced the scene is clear.
However, northbound traffic in the valley is still closed by NHP.

Traffic is backed up as of 2:45 p.m. on I-580 near Washoe Valley following a chase and traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists.

A chase began within Carson City jurisdiction involving a motorcyclist who refused to stop and allegedly tried to run deputies off the road, according to dispatch. NHP was called once they entered NHP’s jurisdiction who appear to have taken over the investigation which ended near Bellevue.

As of 2:52 p.m., detectives from Carson City have also been deployed to the incident.

Traffic is backed up at least three miles according to a deputy on scene.

While investigating the incident in Washoe, it was reported that multiple large groups of about 50-80 heavily armed motorcyclists entered Carson City, heading towards the scene.

UPDATE: 12:40AM: One suspect in Saturday night's officer-involved shooting on Shadow Lane in the Sunridge neighborhood of Northern Douglas County is deceased, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has Tweeted on Twitter.
Four Sheriff's deputies were involved in the incident and one deputy was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office and Nevada Division of Investigations are handling the investigation.

UPDATE: 11:35PM: The Record-Courier in Gardnerville has reported that one person is reported dead and a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy was injured from an officer-involved shooting incident on Shadow Lane in Sunridge.

 May 20th Beautification Day in Dayton

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey counties is inviting volunteers to help beautify the Dayton Food Pantry, the nonprofit garden center Community Roots & Shoots, and Healthy Communities grounds on Sunday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 209 Dayton Valley Road.

With public safety, awareness and community at the center, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host its 15th annual Cops and Kids Open House this Saturday, May 19 at the sheriff's office administration building.
