CARSON CITY — On Tuesday, by executive order, Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and State public buildings and grounds until sunset February 26 in honor of the 500,000 Americans who have passed away due to COVID-19. That includes more than 4,900 Nevadans.

Carson City Health and Human Services has received their shipment of COVID-19 vaccine and the dates for the previously rescheduled COVID-19 vaccination events have been set. Appointments were not canceled. Those who had an appointment for a rescheduled event will not need to make another appointment.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice James W. Hardesty filed a petition requesting the Nevada Supreme Court consider creating a commission to study the adjudication of water law cases in Nevada’s courts.

Nevada Medicaid, the state and federally-funded health insurance program, has hit record enrollment. Medicaid and Check Up are now serving more than 810,000 Nevadans, which accounts for one out of every four Nevadans. The increase is attributed to the pandemic and subsequent economic downturn.

The Western Nevada College Paramedicine program celebrated the graduation of 11 paramedics at a ceremony in Carson City on Saturday.

The graduates are now eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician National Certification Test, according to WNC’s Emergency Medical Services and Paramedic Program Coordinator Terry Mendez.

A hot air balloon was briefly stranded on Sunday morning near C-Hill in Carson City. Sheriff's deputies were notified. No one was injured, according to Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch.

According to Jennifer Myers, who took the photos, the balloon was able to take off after having landed briefly near homes, with the balloon company headed toward a church parking lot with their trailer to rescue it.
