A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of N. Carson Street an Adams Street for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, attempting to destroy or conceal evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two contempt of court warrants out of Carson City Justice Court.

According to the report, James Freeman Brown was arrested early Friday morning after deputies observed two subjects wearing all black walking next to the closed businesses of Frontier Plaza, under poor lighting.

Deputies continued watching the pair, and observed them walk up to a closed business before returning to Carson Street. At this point, deputies stopped the pair and they told deputies they were looking for cigarettes.

Deputies ran their information, and Brown returned with two misdemeanor warrants out of Carson City Justice Court, one having been issued on Jan. 3, the other Nov. 16 of 2018.

Deputies asked if he had any other illegal items on his person, and Brown stated that he did not.

Brown was transported to the Carson City Jail. While deputies were removing Brown from the vehicle, they observed a second meth pipe on the floorboard of the vehicle. At the beginning of the shift, the report stated, the pipe was not there.

Deputies questioned Brown, who said the pipe accidentally fell out of his pants, then he said he was going to be honest and he didn’t want to bring it into the facility. Then he changed his story again and said it fell out without his knowledge.
